The purpose of an infographic is to clarify, not confuse.
Be accurate.
The data is your foundation - in needs to be right!
Be visual!
The images should be telling the story.
Use space and color to highlight patterns and underscore connections.

Although this was posted way back in 2009, Ms, Roy's article analyzing exactly why this graphic works is still one of the most effective tutorials online! Her step-by-step advice on how to conceptualize infographic creation is well worth the read.
